Tonight, on our ride home from the mall, it occurred to me that today is our FIVE month Gotcha-versary with Dylan :)
Obviously the big news this month is Dylan’s surgery is BEHIND US. Â Yippee! Â And, let me tell you, it’s acting as if nothing happened. Â Cast? Â No big deal. Â Pain? Â Only a teensy bit around bedtime.
Mobility? Â He’s back up to speed, which I’m thinking the doctors would be frowning about. Â He was scooting on his bottom, but now he crawling with his long leg behind him and the cast dragging right along. Â They don’t want him putting direct pressure on it, and technically he’s not. Â But, I’m afraid he’s going to drag a hole in it! Â I want to find something I can put on the end (cut off end of a tube sock??) that will take the friction and I can replace if needed.
Dealing with this cast is SO much easier than his last one was.  Maybe because we’ve BTDT?  Also, this cast is smaller (not as fat around his waist, and obviously shorter than the other one).  So, his pants fit better.  And, I had an idea to cut the side seam of  his unders (1 size larger than usual) and use velcro strips to close it around the cast.  Problem…I don’t sew.  So, Gram came to the rescue and made 3 pairs for us to use.  Since he’s potty trained, I wanted him to be able to wear unders and not a pull-up (which he does wear to bed).  They work perfectly!
What else is new….
his favorite new word is “why”. Â He asks it constantly. Â I’ll answer one why question, and he quickly follows up with…”why mommy?”
loves waffles, noodles, pizza, and bananas. Â Isn’t so fond of yogurt anymore.
wears his sister’s plastic necklaces whenever he gets the chance.
is crazy about getting haircuts.
What’s NOT new? Â Still weighs 27lbs. Â Well, according to the hospital, 27.15lbs. Â Hey, he’s gaining, right??
Dylan, you’re such a joy. Â Sweet, goofy, melt our hearts kinda kid. Â Happy 5 months!!

All I really want to say is that “I fell in love with my newest grandson all over again this past week.” He is such a joy. Another word he learned was “Gram” (he was calling me grandmomma which is his other grandmother). Hearing him say “Laimey” is just toooo cute. Watching Lainey and Dylan using his new doctor kit was so funny… stethoscopes to check knee reflexes, shots in – well, just everywhere and after using the velcro to make the BP cuff smaller that was cute. I’m not sure what painting toenails (with water) and fingernails had to do with doctoring, but it was nice.
But why does it seem that Dylan has been in our lives longer than 5 months? I can’t imagine my family without Dylan or Lainey completing my 10 original grandchildren. I just love them all !

Five months…really?? Royal blue is definitely one of his best colors…that and red!!!
It’s amazing how this little boy who used to live halfway around the world has absolutely captured our hearts…just like little Miss Lainey did in ’08!! No doubt that it was God’s plan to be sure they joined the “Clark Clan”!!
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I’d have 6 wonderful grandkids…all with their own personalities and interests…do I love it?? Oh my, Y E S!!!!!!!

I can’t believe it’s 5 months either. I remember when you told me you were adopting again! I’m so glad his post surgery experience has been so positive so far! He’s such a doll!
