The docs at Shriners told us to TRY and keep Dylan from putting much weight on the end of his short leg.
I just can’t call it a stump, I know it’s perfectly acceptable to call it that, I’m just not there yet….I guess we should come up with a cute  name for it.  Our friend’s daughter calls hers “Nemo”.  Get it?  He had a short fin.  Anyway…
Dylan isn’t exactly “walking” on it yet, other than when he walks up / down stairs. Â When scooting on the floor, he kinda drags it behind him. Â Truthfully, he acts like it’s not there…he’s just as fast as he was before the cast.
Today, I noticed that he camo print in one spot on the end looks like it’s fading. Â I assume that’s because it’s getting rubbed off by the friction of it against carpet, etc. Â So, we came up with a solution.
Tube sock to the rescue. Â Wonder how many of those we’ll go through, trying to save the cast?

“Hanes” to the Rescue!!! When this one wears out, get the other one…and so on and so on!!! There’s 2 in each pair and he only needs one at a time, so this is a perfect solution + I imagine it helps to “cushion” it.
When you came up with “Handsful”, you had no idea how appropriate it would be for D-Man!! He would absolutely wear me out!! Good thing you’re in your 40’s and not 60’s like your dad and me!! LOL
Like your dad told you on the phone…he’ll be going even faster once he gets his “new leg”!! I think he’s so happy to be back home from the hospital that he’s non-stop!! LOL (again!!) Love ya, Dylan!!! Try to give Mommy a little break once in awhile =)

It is so GREAT to hear that Dylan is back to his normal self. It is hard to keep a boy down, they have way to much energy and soon it will be even harder as he will be evrywhere.

I knew you would come up with a solution. Look at the underpant solution you came up with… shear genius !
Now… for a name.. Nemo is taken so I suggest you have a contest to find a really great name.
I like “Scooby Doo” just because that reminds me of Randy. Another could be “Captain” as in Captain Dan. Or even “Camo” since that is what he is wearing now… camoflage.
Whatever you end up with, it all just means Dylan will be walking before long so just let him wear out all the socks he wants to for now and thank God he can do so.

Hey Donna
I suggest you go to Hanes website and send them these 2 pics and tell them how much you appreciate their tube socks– I’m sure they’ll send you a bunch of free ones :o)
We’re so happy that everything went well with Dylan’s surgery… we’re praying for him and the rest of your family as you all walk this journey with him. God bless.
