On Friday, the weather was clear. Â Sunny, maybe mid 50’s. Â No sign of winter weather at all. Â That night, we had our bi-weekly Shop meeting and the kids were saying it was supposed to snow on Saturday. Â Yeah, right.
That morning, it was cloudy, cold…and we saw a few light flurries. Â Then, around 3pm it snowed. Â And, kept on snowing.
We’d been out running errands, so as soon as we got home, the kids got snow-ready and headed down to the hill behind the shop. Â Abbey missed out on all this, because she was on her way to Winter Jam in Greensboro.
I followed a little later, with camera in hand.
Marley didn’t let her boot stop her from playing in the snow. Â Not sure what her orthopedist would say. Â We won’t tell him.
This was Dylan’s first time playing in snow! Â He’d seen it a couple of years ago, but he was still in his cast (from when he broke his leg less than a month after we returned from China with him) and couldn’t get IN it. Â He loved it.
Watch out Dylan.
Jack loved it, too.
Best shot of the day, I think.
Payton stares deep into the camera, as he walks back up the hill.
belly sledding!
Best way to end a snow day? Â Snow cream, of course.
Less than 24hrs later, the snow is just about all gone. Â But, we’re thankful that we had at least one gorgeous snow day this year.

You really took some beautiful pictures ! I love seeing the pure joy on Lainey and Dylan’s faces. Seeing that joy always makes me so thankful that God has blessed us with these amazing two children. But then all of your kids are amazing. (and in case Tony reads this… all of his are amazing too. LOL)
I knew from standing on your deck and looking out at the woods and hills behind your house that you would have some amazing days filled with beautiful scenery. The snow looked great. Just think you have your OWN sledding hill without having to leave home !
Where was Randy? I can’t believe he wasn’t sledding with the kids or was he at Winter Jam with Abbey? Maybe we will have another snow day that he and Abbey can be there having a great time with all the rest.
I am really jealous about the snow cream and for that reason alone… I wouldn’t mind having one more day for some snow.

Seeing your photos brought back so many fun memories from the past! There’s nothing like a snow day a hill and a sled! I love your photos!

We went to Jimmy John’s on Wake Forest Rd., Raleigh just before noon…the snowflakes were bigger than any we have seen before!! They were 2″ or more easily!
Your trees are beautiful with the snow on them!! It won’t be too long before St. Patrick’s Day is here, which will mark exactly 1 year since you guys moved to that amazing house, and I’m glad you got to enjoy sledding in your huge yard…looks like fun was had by ALL…even Jack!!
I agree…that WAS the best shot of all…love how Payton has his mouth wide open & big smiles on the others!!!
So, looks like Dylan knows NOW how much fun snow days can be!!! :)
Snow cream? I thought the littles were drinking hot chocolate…I’ve never been crazy about snow cream…the ones I’ve had years ago were too watery, not creamy. Now, after coming in from a cold snowy day, ya just can’t beat hot chocolate!!
Just the other day, you & I were saying on the computer that we’d like at LEAST one good snow day before spring arrives…we got it, and it wouldn’t bother me for just one more before the flowers start to bloom!! :)
