Abbey, 3 months old
My oldest turns 11 today! I know it’s cliche’, but where DOES the time go? It wasn’t that long ago that I was a brand new mom, unsure of how this mommy-business worked. 11 years and 4 kids later…and I’m still trying to figure that one out!
Abbey is such a special girl. She loves horses, dolphins and most recently monkeys! She’s an “in charge†kind of girl, which can make her relationship with her siblings dicey at times! She has one foot in childhood and one foot in pre-teen (as evidenced by her love of stuffed animals AND her first pair of (slightly!) high heels). She loves Jesus (what more could a mom hope for?) and will be the first to nix any non-creationist ideas from books or TV! Abbey loves all her treasures (a.k.a. she’s a packrat), has a fairly massive sweet tooth (like mom, like daughter), and can’t make up her mind which she enjoys more, horse riding or basketball. She’s our first…the child that transformed us from people to parents. I’ll probably be a little sentimental today, remembering her as a baby…her word for balloon was “boo-numâ€â€¦how cute is that?? Enjoy the pictures!

She’s still a cutie, even if she is 11 now. Must feel kinda strange. My oldest is turning 9 soon. I don’t know about this growing up thing…..not sure I approve….:-) OTOH, if they love Jesus, I guess it’s all good….:-)

Oh, the memories I have of this very special grand daughter growing up! I could go on and on…as we were on our way to Lake Lure with her, we stopped at a rest stop, and Abbey showed where the boys go and where the “gulls” go and asked, “Granma, are you a boy or a gull??” And when she was being potty trained, she ran down the stairs yelling, “Candy potty!!” Also, she referred to things she was anticipating as “3 more sleeps till we go to the beach”! When Abbey was 7, Donna told her that there is a boy out there that will probably be her future husband. Soon after that, Abbey started to wave at 7 and 8 year old boys, just in case one of them happened to be her “future husband”! And last but not least, on our way home from the mall, Joe was backing the van out of the parking spot so another car could get the spot, and we hadn’t buckled Abbey up yet…Abbey said, “Granma, WHAT is Abbey missing??” HAPPY BIRTHDAY to a very special grand daughter who gave us soooo many happy and warm memories and we hope she continues to in many years to come!! (I got these memories from my “Grand Kids” journal. Love, Granma

Happy Birthday Abbey !!! I think one of my favorite memories of you is the Christmas at my house when you weren’t getting the “attention” you loved. You crawled up onto a large present and extended your hands out and said, “Ta-Da” and when nobody said anything you said it even louder, “TA-DA” We all started to laugh at you then. You have always been able to steal our hearts from us. I don’t think you have ever taken a “bad” picture, but your real beauty comes from inside your heart which you open to us so readily. Can’t wait to see you next week !!!
love you…Gram
