The closer we get, the harder it gets

Author: donna  |  Category: Dylan

As we inch closer to November, our guesstimate on travel, I find myself becoming more and more anxious to go get our boy. I think of how much time he’s already spent in that orphanage, not with his family. I think more about the day we’ll finally meet.

So, yea, I’m getting tired of waiting :) But, we know that God’s timing is best and rest in that – all the while, doing what we can to help pass the time.

A little shopping always helps. I’ve been picking up travel items here and there lately, crossing them off my packing list. Lainey has been confused more than once…is that toothbrush for me? No, honey, it’s for Yu Hai.

Dylan has a surprise coming his way, too. I ordered a small care package, with a stuffed puppy dog. Just to let remind him that someone out there loves him. And, we are coming.

Our agency requested an update on Dylan back in August – we were hoping for updated measurements and a new picture. We received the measurements alone…I can’t really complain, given how many pictures of him we’ve been blessed with. As of 9/6/10 he weighs 25lbs and is 2′ 8″ tall. That puts him at < 3 percentile for both. He's a little guy at 3 yrs 2 months. To compare, Lainey weighed 25lbs at 20 months. Some news on our timeline...after some unwelcome drama involving our social worker, we finally heard today that our I-800 file was approved by the NBC (immigration). We have a few more hurdles to jump through until that magical TA (Travel Approval) arrives. But, progress is being made. Which means we're getting closer. Which means the waiting gets harder.

It’s like a child waiting for Christmas. It seems like it won’t ever get here and then it is over in a blink of an eye. All of this is in God’s hands and He has already chosen the exact time that you and Randy will go and bring Dylan home.

(but is it alright if I pray REAL hard for that time to hurry up and come?)

yep- the wait from LOA to TA is brutal- I wouldn’t wish it on anyone- i gained 4 pound in eating candy as a stress relief (and then I lost 8 since coming home b/c I don’t have time to sit!)
oh donna– all i can tell you is that you’re in the single digits for WEEKS!!!! and just like everyone says- once you hold him, all that time waiting goes away:)

25 pounds at 3??!!! dang– you’ll need to fatten him up!!! noah just gained 4 pounds in 6 weeks since being home (he wasn’t even on the growth chart) and is now 24 pounds at 2 years of age:)

ps– what kind of car do you have to fit 6 kids in the back and 2 adults in front??

Congratulations Donna! You will be there for your beautiful son before you know it! I remember when you received Lainey’s referral (we were on the CCAIWCP board together). She is just beautiful!! She has grown so much. We had switched agencies when we found our Leilah Di on another list…and have since brought home Leilah Di in Aug. ’08 and Olivia Xia in Oct. ’09, and are currently awaiting LOA for our son, waiting in Chongqing!

Anyway, I was going thru my favorites, and saw your blog, and had to check it out. LOVE the homepage pic! You have a beautiful family!

    Congratulations again!

We’re all waiting with you…so you’re definitely not alone. I can’t believe after all that cake he’s been eating, he only weighs 25 lbs. Oh well, maybe he has a good metabolism! How great is Christmas going to be this year…with a new grandson to join us?!! Can’t wait to see his beautiful eyes when he sees the trees lit up!!! Your dad and I have found out many times that patience can be very rewarding!!! Love ya!
