Well, I’m a day late in getting this posted – a certain daughter of mine had my computer held hostage all last night.
As busy as yesterday was (running from 6am till 6pm!), we certainly remembered that we were celebrating FOUR months with Dylan!  Honestly, it seems like longer.  Was he ever not here?  His transition into the family has been extremely easy.  Sleeping  and eating issues are gone.  His english  is exploding and he talks in sentences.  He STILL weighs 27lbs. and not an ounce more.  Maybe he’s growing in height?  I’ve got to look back to his initial appt. to check on that.
A new favorite activity…sitting on the edge of the sink and washing dishes.
A few more observations…
* He says I love you – “I lub oo” Â – Lainey taught him that one.
* We were at church yesterday, waiting to pick up Abbey and Ethan from their student council meeting. Â We were on the playground, and there’s a small climbing wall. Â Lainey started up, and Dylan wanted to try. Â I immediately told me no, he just wasn’t ready for that. Before I knew it, he was at the top (with me “spotting” him). Â I have to learn NOT to lower my expectations of him.
* The other day, I was holding him and he accidently bumped into my chin. Â He immediately asked “ooh ok mommy?” Â and kissed me. And, this morning he wanted a sip from a water bottle. Â I was worried he might spill and he said “I not spill it, I be tareful”. Â Interactions like that are becoming common…I love how we can communicate so much easier now.
* A lot happens next month, specifically his surgery on April 26th. Â We’ve already been talking a lot about his “new leg” and wearing “two shoes”. Â When I took him back to the surgeon last week to check on his broken femur (healing perfectly, by the way), he asked if we were there for his new leg. Â If we mention going to the doctor for anyone, he asks if it’s for his new leg. Â He’s anxious, though I realize he doesn’t know specifically what’s about to happen. Â We plan on getting together with our friends, the Gambils soon. Â They have a 5 year old daughter with an amputation/prosthetic leg. Â I want Dylan to see and get a better idea of what’s coming. Â We’re blessed to have friends willing to share their experiences with us!
So, our next Gotcha Day update will be at 5 months, and Dylan will have had his surgery. Â He’ll be BACK in that lovely spica cast, too. Looking forward to that! Â (sarcasm…)

I can’t imagine which daughter had your computer held hostage…LOL! I just gotta say (again!!)..Dylan is just so um…CUTE!! I think you guys were MEANT to have Lainey and Dylan, as they both just “fit like a glove” in your family!
We love the part where you said that Lainey taught Dylan “I lub oo”…adorable! Wow, he’s a real mover, isn’t he?! LOVE, love that he’s communicating so well now!!! YAY!!! And so will Lainey soon, after more speech therapy…YAY again!!
April 26th will be here before we all know it, and we’ve already starting prayers for him and you guys. We’ll all be nervous about his surgery, but we’ll also be so ANXIOUS for him to walk…and we’re glad that he’s aware of “getting his new leg”! (That’s so cute that he thinks going to the Dr. means his new leg!!) Also glad that his broken femur is healing so well!! Amen!
How nice of your friends to help you guys out with bringing their daughter over, who is just a little older than Dylan, to give him an idea of what he too will be doing to WALK!!! (I could tell the last time I was there, that he wants badly to walk cuz he was trying to hop, instead of crawl…I almost cried hoping that the time gets here fast for him to get his prosthetic leg!!) It’s probably God’s plan…just the way all of the other things have been happening lately…Lainey’s adoption, your move from Florida to NC and now Dylan and your friends, the Gambils.
I love this blog…it makes me SMILE and cry happy tears!!!

I, too found it funny that Lainey was teaching Dylan to talk. BUT I am convinced that Lainey will be speaking better and better from now on. Dylan is smart and learns fast and I love all the things he is saying now.
I know it is hard not to want to put limits on what Dylan can do, but I don’t think Dylan will put limits on what he thinks he can do. It will be amazing when he actually sees what he will be able to do with 2 legs !
It does seem longer than 4 months since you all went to get Dylan. He gets cuter every day and is just like his daddy was at that age in that he is a little “termite” and crawls inside your heart before you know it. My daddy used to call Randy “termite” because of that reason….
