The kids in their assigned yellow tees for Cousins Day

Here is our “Cousins Day” weekend trip to NC in the form of our own TOP 10…in no certain order.

1. Spending time with Donna’s mom and dad…and watching Ethan wipe out on his Heelies in their driveway. Ethan says thanks for the first aid.

We know how this turned out…

2. A fantastic “triple-date” with Tony, Dee Dee, John, and Kim. A wonderful dinner with a movie on each side! (go see the Bourne Ultimatum…it’s gooood)

3. Speaking of our dinner…Drinking a yummy “Blue Violet” and watching Randy eat his “Tuna Poke”. This was NOT McDonalds.

4. Cousins Day. 16 kids. Ages 2 to 16. 3 adults, 1 house, 24 hours. Nana and Paw Paw, have you recovered yet?

Hugging cousins

5. Randy beats his brother Tony in basketball…again. Randy’s punishment? Five minutes in the dreaded wet sauna!

6. Getting lost while hiking and exploring at Kim and John’s new house. Once we found our way out, we checked out the backyard. Most of you won’t get that one ;)

7. Seeing my sweet grandmom, who still seems as young as she did when I spent nights with her as a child.

4 Generations…Grandmom, Dad, Me, kiddos

8. Finding out that Randy’s Uncle Terry’s TERMINAL cancer is…gone. Really gone. Praise God!

9. Hanging out with Randy’s Mom at her house and at the mall (you should see my cute new belt…). Ann, your new furniture and house look great!!

10. Having an amazing Sunday morning, re-connecting with our great friends at Grace Church.

**11. I know, it’s only supposed to be 10. But, we came home to a VERY stinky house. We finally realized that a breaker had flipped, turning off the freezer in our garage. We had meat in there…and fish. Not the welcome home I wanted! But, we now have a very empty and clean freezer. Now, to get rid of the smell…

Donna, I give you an A+ for this…you should have been a newspaper reporter, as this turned out so professional and interesting and the pictures are terrific!! (You have a way with words that makes reading your “articles” fun to read!!) We enjoyed your visit, although it was way too short, as usual. Hope the “stink” goes away SOON!! Hopefully Lainey will be in the “Cousins” photos next year!! Kathy did a great job, as always…way to go, Kathy!! Love, Mom

I really enjoyed the time with you and Randy (as always). I did miss seeing the kids and wish that Paul had been here to see you all, but work had to be done. Our time together was just way too short.

I can relate well to the freezer incident. When Randy and Tony were younger, I had to fly to Texas to help Jackie with the kids as R.E. had been burned and was at the burn center. After two weeks, I flew home and as I walked into the garage, I saw water under the chest freezer. “Somehow” the freezer had been unplugged. Everything was thawing out, but most could be saved by cooking it. I spent the next day cooking, re-freezing, giving away cooked food to neighbors and we had LOTS of food to eat for quite a while. (Mine had not reached the “stinky” level, but still had ice crystals on most everything.) This was not the homecoming I had hoped for either.

I agree with your Mom… you are a good writer and I look forward to reading your comments and seeing the pictures.

I love your Top 10(or 11) list! Cousins camp looks and sounds like so much fun! I’m glad all of you had a great weekend.
We went to Fernandina with a day trip to Jacksonville. I thought about you and hoped that one day we will be able to meet!

The Cousins camp seem like so much fun! What a great idea! Is this a family tradition? Maybe I can do that for my kids when they have kids :)
