Everyday, I squeeze in time for either unpacking and/or organizing. I’ve been crazy busy lately, and not home much, but the next few days are fairly open so I plan on getting a LOT done. I’ve focused mainly on the kitchen and family room, followed by our bedroom. The big kids are working on their rooms, and the little kids are waiting patiently (ahem) for me to spend a good chunk of time in there.
Family room, looking into the kitchen. The red chair won’t stay forever, it’s on it’s last leg. The couch we purchased from the owners for a crazy good price, and the recliner is new. I want to incorporate some COLOR in here, still trying to decide on color schemes, window treatments (just want panels), etc.
Kitchen. This is one room we painted…it’s a warmer tone than it looks in the picture. I’m loving this kitchen, there’s so much space. Ahhh…
Ahhh!! This greeted Randy the other morning. You never know what you’re gonna find around here…or where.
View from the front door. I just missed the sunset, it’s gorgeous. Love the red barn across the street. Oh, and ignore the horrible yard…weeds that need cutting. We’ll work on the yard at some point.
View from the back deck. The dirt road winds down to our “shop”, as we’re calling it. It’s a large building that the previous owners used for a workshop. We’re considering making it into a hang-out for our kids and their friends. Not sure yet. To the left of the fir trees, you see what looks like stubby sticks? It’s an overgrown garden, that I hope to get our hands into soon!
Payton is always ready with a pose…
First plants, that I actually potted today. The tomato is meant to be a small, container type. Not sure how we’ll do with the strawberries, never tried them before. I’m hopeful, though :)
Next up, bedrooms…but, I’ve gotta have some time to make them blog-ready!

I love the couch and new recliner. Can’t wait to see what you decide on color schemes, etc. After the kitchen at Lake Norman, I know you are loving this kitchen. That other kitchen was so small that only about half your family could get into it at a time. Do you have a garbage disposal in the new kitchen? Like with us on private well, septic line, etc. we were told not to put in garbage disposal. I know you missed having one. One question…. Where is your large kitchen table with chairs and bench? Are you not using it in the kitchen? If not… where do all of you sit to eat together?
I love the huge amount of land you have. It looks like Jack and the kids are loving it too. If you all want to borrow our tiller for the garden, you can ask Paul when you come for Easter. I think it still works?????
Can’t wait to see more pictures of all the house.

Wow, the kitchen and LR look great since we left! I think you said that the long table with bench will be in the “school room” with the front windows overlooking the front yard & road, right? I sat in that beautiful dark brown leather recliner while we were there…I told your dad that he should have just left it in our truck to take home!!! It’s soooo soft and comfortable!!
I assume that is a “Wolfpack” mask in your fridge? I would have shaked it and thrown it out the door!!! HA!!!!!
Ya gotta be really fast to catch a gorgeous “sunset”. I came home from work a few years ago and we had one in our side yard…I ran in the house and grabbed the camera, and it was too late!!
You didn’t mention that this “shop” is large enough to put our entire house in!!! It would be great for the kids to chill out in!! :)
Looks like most of the kids are glad that the other owners left their swing set in the backyard!
I can handle the tomatoes….just had a great tomato & bacon bits sandwich…mmmmmm!!! But unfortunately I cannot handle the strawberries…but good luck with both pots!! SO GLAD that you have some time in the next few days, and I’m SURE you will get LOTS done!! Have a great weekend….love you guys!!!!

Love to catch up with your news again … and despite being a Carolina fan, I actually like that punch of red color in the family room, so perhaps something else red will take the place of the aging chair?
