Not so sure how to “categorize” this one! Just a few photos to share…
My parents came down last Saturday and stayed with us, so they could attend the kids Testify concert Sunday morning. It went GREAT, and I think Grandma and Grandpa were impressed.
I made Randy take this one. A collection box in the fellowship hall. I considered whether or not my children were “gently used” enough to donate.
Same weekend, the day before…
We had 2 of Marley’s friends spend the night Friday night, and another friend of hers came over the next day. Somehow they talked the boys into makeovers. Attention from girls? Sign them up. The results were impressive.
The “goth” look suits them, huh? Scary. I didn’t get a shot of their black fingernails.
Mad goth scientist?
Anyone else see Marley in this shot? Ethan will love that…
Fast forward to Tuesday. Randy left to go out of town on Monday, so it’s just me and the kiddos for the week. I was taking Marley to horseriding and running a few errands, so the littles were with the other kids. When I left, they were planning on taking them outside in their bathing suits and squirting them with the hose (no lake or pool for us anymore…wahhh!!)
When I got back, the littles were all bathed and in their jammies. Wow! How sweet of the big kids to do that for me. After praising them, here’s the photo Abbey showed me.
Gulp. It’s a good thing I wasn’t here, cause I’m not nearly fun enough to allow this! I had to wash their clothes and Dylan’s prosthesis belt. There’s still a little clay stain in the belt (if you live in NC, you’ll laugh here), and I had to wash out the prosthesis itself. But the rest came clean. Later on, I found the bathtub. I should have taken a picture of THAT.
Life is anything but dull.

Wow! That’s a lot of mud. . .clay! It doesn’t come out to easily! I be the bathtub was impressive!

O.k…I leave and chaos breaks out. Is it wrong that my first thought, upon seeing my youngest children covered head to toe in mud, was how bad they messed up the yard?

OK…first things first. Yes, your Dad and I were very impressed with the kids’ Testify concert…it was great! Thanks for printing the picture of us and our “Testify Four”! We’re a pretty good looking group!!
About the box of clothes at the church…I wondered WHY Randy took that picture!! HA!!!
I also took some pictures of Tater & EJ wearing their wicked make-up….HA!! That was funny!!!!
BUT…you saved the best for last!!! Lainey & Dylan posing with all of that MUD!!! Oh my!!!!
It’s a GOOD thing the kids bathed them before you got home….I can’t imagine how the tub looked!! And now, Randy is worried about his yard!! :)

When I saw the picture of Lainey and Dylan, my first thought was of Randy and Tony being covered in red mud when they played “king of the hill” on a huge pile of dirt/clay in our neighborhood. Only I didn’t take them inside to bathe them, but made them take off all their clothes (in back of the house for privacy sake) and then I hosed them off before letting them inside to take a shower. Maybe…. the older kids should have taken Dylan’s prosthesis off before the muddy playing????
Not a fan of Goth “anything”… but Payton and Ethan were good sports about the makeovers. Ethan and Marley do favor, but Payton is Randy (as is Abbey)

I’m so glad I looked at this just before bedtime: belly-laughing is so good for the soul (and hopefully for my sleep tonight)! At least growing up in Wayne County when we played in the hose & sprinkler, the mud wasn’t red-clay in color. And I don’t doubt that you wouldn’t have been “as much fun” Donna … trust the big kids to have let the littles have fun, then to have cleaned them up before you got home. Sorry about your yard, Randy.

I’m with you. I would have wanted to be spared the mud photos until AFTER the kids were cleaned up as well! Looks like you guys are off to a fun summer vacation! We are heading up to PA in a few days for some cousin time and then back down here for a July trip to Myrtle Beach. That’s about it but just enough for me!
