Does this look comfy to you? Â This is Lainey, during her nap yesterday!
Well, we are really down to the wire now, today is our last full day in China. We have mixed feelings really…VERY anxious to get home to our kids, family, friends, dog, house, my red chair, Randy’s big TV, Mountain Dew, potable water, and drinks with ice! But, we have found that we do love it here. The people, especially. Most of them are just as nice as can be. The others don’t really say anything, but don’t exactly smile either :) But, all in all we love these people and will have wonderful memories of living among them for this short while. And, of course, we will be forever indebted to this country for giving us our precious Lainey. We had to come a long ways to find our daughter, but she couldn’t be more perfect for our family.
Here is the view from our hotel window on this glorious day…blue skys and warm, just a little breeze. The city goes on and on.
Lucy’s restaurant is a very popular eating place for us mis-placed Westerners. American food! We’ve been here twice. We’ve noticed even more of us adoptive families come to Lucy’s near the end of our trip, ready for comfort food.
Donna and Jenn (friend from the CCAIWC yahoo board) and our daughters Lainey and Kenzie at Lucy’s last night. They look a bit suspicious of each other, hmmm??
Randy took this shot from the river side of the hotel last night. Beautiful!! See on the far left building, one of the Olympic characters is displayed.
Back to Jordon’s today for our last bit of shopping. Would you believe Randy is getting into shopping even more than I am??
All the store ladies dote on Lainey, saying how beautiful she is, giving her toys and crackers. She looks pretty happy to get the attention, huh?
Lainey loves shoes…here we are finding just ONE more pair.
Randy thought you might like a picture of one of the markets on the street here in Guangzhou. Not sure about the top 2 bins, but the next one is sandworms and the close one is water beetles. There were also all kinds of fish, silk worms, and snakes. Lunch, anyone?
A shot of the nice sales ladies, wrapping up one of Randy’s chosen treasures. Pray that it makes it home in one piece.
We must now wake Lainey from her nap (oh no…) so we can board the bus for our oath taking at the US consulate. We’ll try and post a pic of that later. Thanks again for all the comments!!! Hugs and love to all!

First… my prayers and heart are with you on this final leg of this wonderful and miraculous journey.
Now it seems so quickly that you are returning home. Never have 3 people crammed so much into the time you were there. That and still posting so we all could share this journey with you… thank you from the depths of my heart. I feel like a proud Mother and Grandmother should feel at the “birth” of her newest grandchild.
The pictures are absolutely beautiful !!! I think maybe Randy should have been a photographer. But with subjects like you and Lainey, you make it easy.
How are you going to ever get back home all the stuff you got while shopping and shopping and shopping?
The reason you fell in love with the people of China is because your hearts are filled with good, Christian and loving kindness. People recognize that in your smiles which is the universal language.
Pink is definitely one of Lainey’s best colors. I love the picture of her smiling and the one of her taking a nap. No wonder the sales people dote on her. But then I suspect you and Randy do too.
Yes, you did go a long way for your daughter, but in doing so her life is now forever changed. She now has the family and the love that God planned for her all along. I can only imagine the excitement that Abbey, Payton, Marley and Ethan are feeling knowing that – soon – so very soon they will finally get to meet their sister that they have prayed for so long. What wonderful blessings we all have.
I love you all and am praying that God will send multitudes of angels to bring you home safely.

I’m logged in as “Donna”, but I’m actually the very PROUD Granma of our 4 here with Granpa & me…and the gorgeous little China doll dressed in pink..I agree with Ann…it’s definitely HER color!!! What great pictures…love the one Randy took at the river with the beatiful colors of the buildings!
Ok, now I know what the kids and us will have for lunch..a yummy plate of black water beetles…of course, with mayo!!
So, Lainey has already decided that she likes SHOES…she’s like her sisters!! They each bought a pr. of flip flops at Target the other day!
Your dad and I have really enjoyed watching the kids open their treat bags every night and I’ve been taking pictures of each one. Tonight is bag #7…which leaves the big GOLD bag (#8) left!!! They’re getting extremely excited for the big day!! (And so are we!)
You won’t see this till you get home…right now (in China) it’s almost 12 midnight and you’ll be getting up soon to head for the airport…I can understand your mixed feelings about leaving (sad) and getting home (excited)! This was a trip of a LIFETIME in more ways than one! You’ve seen soooo many interesting places, met some wonderful, kind people…but the greatest of all, you don’t go home empty-handed…you bring home LAINEY…your sweet daughter and the kid’s sister…and OUR adorable grand daughter that we’re already bragging about to everyone!!!
Will see you 3 (THREE!!!) very soon! Love, Mom & Dad

Wow, I can’t believe your trip is coming to an end! I have thoroughly enjoyed following this journey to Lainey. It makes me sooooo excited to someday go there myself when we pick up Selah. I sure hope they still have the White Swan Barbie then :)
Blessings on every part of the last days you have in China!
