Since we’ve had kids, we’ve lived in 6 different houses.
That seems like a lot to me, given our oldest is only 17. Â Anyway…
In that time, Randy has designed and built swing sets for the kids. Â I’m thankful that I have a very handy husband, who can figure out / build / fix just about anything. Â What a blessing!
When we moved here, there was already a small swing set in the back yard. Â Great!
Not so big, but it worked. Â And, they used it a lot.
Which is why not too long ago, it broke. Â I don’t mean got wobbly…it had been that way for a while. Â The wood supports broke and it was dead.
So, swing set #4 was set into motion. Â First, take down dead swing set.
Blank slate!
To build the new one, Randy salvaged parts and wood from our old set that were still usable, and also parts from a friend’s old set that Randy helped take down. Â Add in new parts and wood, and we have what we’ve coined “Franken-set”.
First tower is up.
And, on and on it goes.
He’s nearly finished with it. Â Since this picture, he’s added a fireman’s pole. Â He’ll complete the top of the left tower, and then move on to the right.
Let the playing begin…soon!

How about a heavy duty extension so that Randy can swing along with the kids?

LOL to Aunt Mary’s suggestion…heavy duty!! HA!!! She has a point, though….put a porch swing on it for you and Randy, like our’s! Then the whole entire family can swing, slide, play, whatever!!
Kuddos to Randy for this fantastic mile-long play set….it is awesome and we’re proud of our very talented son-in-law for his many MANY talents!!!

Well, I’d give credit to some inherited talent from his PaPa Robertson!

I am having a hard time finishing the thing . . . every time I get my tools out to work, it rains. Crazy. When it’s all finished, the set will have (2) swings, (1) see-saw, (1) climbing wall, (1) slide, (1) set of monkey bars, (1) spinning trapeze bar, (1) standard trapeze bar, (1) fireman’s pole, (2) towers, (1) canopy, (1) enclosed fort area, (1) steering wheel (that I’ve had for 5 years), (1) rope walkway between the towers, and (1) climbing rope.
I think that’s all. Unless I get bored.
