So, what’s new with Marley?
She’s been asking for quite a while. Â Last week, I took her to a jeweler downtown and she was brave enough to sit in that chair and let the manager pierce her ear cartilage. Â This is my child that HATES needles. Â I mean, she’s just shy of jumping off the table at the doctor’s office when they come at her with a shot. Â But, for this she was cool as a cucumber…even though people told her it would HURT. Â Weird thing is, she barely flinched. Â And, though it did throb and sting for a little while that night, it hasn’t bothered her much at all since. Â She can’t sleep on that side yet, but she’s okay with that. Â She’s more than thrilled that she did it.
Speaking of Marley, she’s been cooking a lot lately. Â She found a wonderful Asian stir-fry recipe that she’s made twice for us. Â It’s delish. Â This time, she found a hoisin sauce recipe and used some shrimp and raman for a nice lunch for herself.
I’ve talked about our Shop meetings here…we’ve had 2 in the last 2 weeks. Â Lots of snacks, plastic cups, and teens everywhere. Â Last week, before the teaching time, we invited anyone in Testify who was auditioning for a role in the drama to come early for practice.
We did the same thing last night, just increased it to 2 full hours, so all the different kids/roles could practice. Â It was really helpful, and gave them a chance to stand up and really act the part, like they’d do during the last audition. Â Auditions were held today, and Payton (going for Marshall) and Abbey (going for Kris) feel like they did well. Â Now, we wait and see.
Rather than teaching time, it was Movie night after practice…Remember the Titans. Â Love that movie. Â We had about 30 kids total hanging out with us. Â And, as we normally do, the night ended with a bonfire.
So, those were the highlights of last week.
Oh, and Ethan now has his back handspring as of last week…and Lainey moved up to Advanced tumbling with her back handspring, and have I mentioned that Marley has hers as well? Â Dylan is working hard to be next!
Next week, Randy travels for three nights, Lainey gets her spacers to prepare for braces the following week (eeek), and the trips biology class begins.
It’s never dull around here.

Hmmmm…let’s see, Marley you look cute with your new earring…but then, you also looked cute BEFORE the earring!! Really!! No offense, but I don’t think that Granpa and I are very interested in your new meal…we just don’t do shrimp. I’m SURE it’s good, tho’ for those who dig shrimp! :)
I think it’s wonderful that our grands’ friends know they can come to your house and feel special by your amazing hospitality…the snacks, watching TV, the shop and oh yes, the bonfire!!
We hope that Abbey plays the part of Kris and Payton plays the part of Marshall. We witnessed them acting back in the spring for Testify and they were both great!! Glad their auditions went well. Praying for good news!
We saw the video of Ethan doing his back handspring…wow!! He’s good!! Congrats to him and Lainey and Marley for moving up to Advanced tumbling!!! We’ll have some great entertainment when we come for Thanksgiving!! :)
Safe travels next week, Randy and prayers for Lainey to get her spacers; and how awesome that the trips are starting biology class! I had a great teacher, Mr. Simpson in biology and I ended up loving it!! I used to know the name of every bone in the human body from head to toe!
Have a great week!!!!

After having my ears pierced as an adult I said I would NEVER have another piercing done anywhere. Mine got infected and hurt so bad. Marley’s looks cute though, but then Marley always looks cute. Love that she is learning to cook too. I think ALL kids should have to take basic cooking classes so that they can cook for themselves when they need to.
So proud of the kids and their zeal for acrobatics. They are all doing great.
I have told you all before how much I love that you open your home up to all the teens. You give them a safe environment along with a place that is fun. I know that the parents of these kids love it too as they don’t have to worry about their kids going to “The Shop.”
love you all
