Sunday, 4/13. Lainey loved her first Easter egg hunt at Gram and Pa-Paul’s house! They’ve done this for the grandkids for years, and with Lainey, the kid-count is now 11 between just us and Randy’s brother’s family! The kids really look forward to this every year because Gram hides LOTS (I believe the number was around 280?) eggs with money and goodies inside each and every one. After the hunt, we divide up the eggs based on the sticker on them (each child has his/her own sticker) so everyone gets the same number of eggs. The dividing up portion is crazy, with us adults calling out “who’s the red star???†while eggs fly through the air on the way to the right kid. Fun! Here are some pictures from the fun day…
The group shot on the stairs, prior to the hunt. The big kids (4 of them) hide the eggs while the younger ones hunt. Once you turn 12, you’re a hider :)

EJ remembered to wear his camo for the hunt
Payton encourages her, as usual
I told you there were a LOT of eggs!

The dividing part…unfortunately, the camera didn’t catch any eggs flying by.
Next post, Lainey meets more family and we make a couple of stops on our way back home. :)

Thanks for the pictures and write-up about our egg hunt. I may need a copy of the group shot and the one of me holding Lainey. Paul didn’t take too many pictures and my group shot isn’t all that good.
The total count of eggs was 287 with each “finder” getting 41 each. Then there were 4 large eggs for the older kids. It takes a long-g-g-g time to get all of them ready, but it is worth it to watch them having a good time. And yes the hectic fun part is when the eggs are flying all over the room. Thank Payton, Ethan and Marley to ageeing to raise the finders age.
Marley is so cute in her picture, but then all of them are. I wish we had dumped all the eggs on the floor and put Lainey in the middle of them for a picture. One time when I was holding Lainey she saw the azalea and pointed to it so I got her close enough to touch it. You could see the amazement in her eyes. She does love colorful things, doesn’t she?
I loved seeing all my grandchildren as they bring joy to my heart. Seeing Lainey for the first time took my breath away. But holding her (finally) was beyond wonderful. Lainey’s siblings are very protective of her and I found that so sweet. Lainey amazed me with her sign language. She has adapted better than I could have ever hoped. You can tell that she loves and trusts her Momma and Daddy.
“Behold, children are a gift of the Lord. How blessed is the grandmother whose life is full of them.” Psalm 127 (paraphrased just a little, but I just know it was meant this way, too.)
