We found out on Monday that Lainey now has a surgery date…May 29th. Yep, NEXT Thursday. Sooner than we anticipated, but we’re glad that she’s getting it done now. She’ll be all ready for birthday cake in July :)
They plan on trying to close her whole palate in one surgery, and the ENT will place tubes in her ears. She’ll be on various levels of a liquid diet for 3 weeks and have to wear arm restraints (www.snugglewraps.com) for 2 weeks. They don’t want ANYTHING to go in her mouth during those 3 weeks…fingers, sippy cups, forks, spoons, etc. The restraints will keep her arms fairly straightened out, keeping those fingers at bay. We will be feeding her with a syringe and tube set-up and/or a regular cup. She’s enjoying her cup lessons, as you can see above.
Her recovery period could be rough, but we’re trusting God. Lainey is one very resilient little girl, she has handled more in her young life than most and has come through it shining. God will be with us, as we help her, and she’ll be talking our ears off in no time :)

Best of luck with the surgery! Lainey’s a tough little gal, she’ll pull through just great, I bet. Just hope Mommy gets some rest during her recovery period!

She’s already in our prayers…and our friends will be saying some prayers for her and you also. Love her Yummy cupcakes outfit…and it looks like she’s a real pro at the cup already! Please call us as soon as you know something on Thursday. I’ll be at work from 8 AM to 9:40 and then will go for an ENT app’t and then back to work till 5 PM. I’m sure you have my work #. We’re hoping and praying that this one surgery will take care of her and that she will start recovery immediately. It will all be worth it when she blows out the candles for the 1st time on her cake and can start calling you guys by name…how great will THAT be??!!!! Love ya, Mom

Praying for your family and Lainey now as you near her surgery date.
