After lots and lots of name talk and debate, Randy and I are pretty settled on a name for the baby we’re waiting for. There have been many on “the list†and Randy wants it known that he still has the right to change it, should another name strike his fancy.
For those who don’t know, our daughter Marley was going to be Rachel. About 2 weeks before she was born, he announced that he heard the name Marley and wanted to use it for our girl triplet. At the time, I was in the hospital, having been on bedrest for a week. I was uncomfortable, tired of nurses waking me at all hours of the night to check heartbeats and give me shots, and missing my 2 year old daughter Abbey terribly. I would have agreed to name said-girl triplet Rufus, if he could just rescue me from the current situation. Guess I was a bit vulnerable! We talked about it and polled the nurses on what we should name her and, in the end, she was deemed Marley. Funny thing…she looks nothing like a Rachel and the name Marley totally fits her personality (massively feminine with just a touch of attitude).
So, back to the name. Both of our daughter’s names end in “ey†and we wanted to try and continue that with girl #3. We also wanted the name to begin with a different letter than any of the current Clark Clan. We wanted a name with a nice meaning. Last, we wanted something unique and not-overused (but not too unique to be weird!).
With all of that in mind, we’ve chosen the name… Lainey. It means bright light or sun ray. We love it. If Randy comes up with a new name, I’m reserving the right to refuse. ;)
